Outdoor Spa Garden ideas

With spring on the way, it’s time to think about getting your garden spruced up so you can enjoy your hut tub to the max. Whether you’ve got a cosy courtyard, a large rural plot, a holiday rental, or a modern landscape, a well-placed wood-fired hot tub and sauna can turn any outdoor space into a spa-like sanctuary.
We’ve asked some of our customers for their top tips and put together some inspiring ideas to help you create the perfect spa-garden!

Rustic retreat

Janine and Mark live in northern France and wanted their hot tub and sauna to blend in with nature as well as be easy to access from the house. They created a wooden decking area, and since it’s the north – they put up a little gazebo over the top so that when it rains, they can still enjoy it. They use the light from the sauna and solar lights for soft lighting. They also created a little wood storage area and a table and chairs for sitting out on warm evenings with a glass of wine while the tub heats up.

They planted beds around the decking which anchors the space into the garden and provides year-round good looks.

This combination of decking, soft lights, planting works really well for countryside homes, woodland gardens, and rural gites.

Secluded Wellness Corner With Plants & Privacy Screens

Privacy is an essential element of enjoying your spa area – and many of our customers say they use decorative screening panels, evergreen hedging and shrubs, bamboo which grows quickly and provides a natural screen, reed fences also for that natural look and tall grasses.

But using plants isn’t just about privacy, it brings softness, movement, and colour to the space. This is an idea approach if you want an intimate, enclosed spa zone, if your home is
overlooked by neighbours or you have a smaller garden where privacy matters most.

Place Your Hot Tub or Sauna in a Scenic Spot

This is one of the things that most customers consider to be no. 1 when they’re picking the hot tub-hot spot. Whether that’s a view over the countryside, the sea, woods or a sunset facing corner – the best spot in the garden is the best spot for your hot tub. It gives you the wow factor element – and if you have a holiday rental, your guests will love it.
Provide seating, a bench, low planting so as to keep that view clear – and this is going to be everyone’s favourite bit of the garden.

Lush Greenery for a Spa-Botanical Look

Want a hint of an exotic oasis for your spa area? Make use of potted bamboo, palms and ferns – they’ll add a lush green look! Throw in some aromatic plants – rosemary and lavender for instance and give the area a lovely scent. You could also have a hammock, add some sculptural driftwood and candle lanterns to add to the ambiance – this works really well for courtyard gardens, modern homes and spaces where you want a big visual impact.

Practical tips for making your spa area even better

There are some really simple practical additions that can transform a good spa setup into a great one:

  • Wooden steps or mini platforms
  • Non-slip mats or decking
  • Outdoor robe hooks
  • Towel rails (heated or solar)
  • Covered wood storage area
  • Bag with kindling, matches and firelighters so it’s all to hand
  • A weatherproof storage box for covers and accessories

This keeps everything tidy, safe, and accessible — especially in winter.
Integrating a hot tub or sauna beautifully into your garden really makes the whole experience feel special and turns your outdoor space into a place to escape, unwind, and reconnect with yourself or loved ones.

Whether you prefer rustic charm, modern minimalism, lush greenery, or cosy seclusion, there’s a style to suit every home in France.

A little creativity goes a long way — and your garden spa will reward you for years to come.
