Will you be celebrating with a Beer Spa Day?

International Beer Day on Friday August 6, 2021

How will you be celebrating this Friday? If you are a beer lover then this could be your favourite day of the year. And if you're a happy hot tub owner then you will be happier still, gulping down a pint of best in your own private, luxury spa. But I bet you won't be bathing in beer. Anyone that does could have a lot of extra hot tub cleaning to do. So Hot Tubs in France do not recommend turning your tub into a Beer Spa, like this one in Prague. Celebrate International Beer Day in style, but preferably by not by filling your hot tub with beer!

The story behind it

First set up in 2007 by 3 friends from San Francisco as a way to bring friends and strangers together over a few pints. In just a few years International Beer Day has grown from a small localised event in the Western United States, into a worldwide celebration. It's a way to encourage people to enjoy it and, if you're into your home-brew, to share some techniques on how to make beer as well.

How to celebrate

Somehow I don't think you are going to need me to give you too many ideas about how you can celebrate the day. Get together with friends and family and have a few beers - end of.

Does anyone brew their own beer in France? If you do, then why not share your beers with a few mates and get their feedback. Perhaps go on a brewery tour and learn the science behind beer making. There are a few breweries in France that arrange Open Days and tours so might be worth checking if there are any in your area. Or maybe even arrange a weekend of tours and tasting.

Did you know?

Although France is recognised as a major wine-producing country, there's also a growing craft beer revolution going on here. Most people don't realise that France is one of the biggest barley exporters in the world. I know, because I've seen and heard all the tractors and combine harvesters out in the fields recently. There are also more than 650 breweries in France, so you are sure to find one or more in your region. In some of the cities, like Paris and Lyon, brewery pubs are on the increase, and getting the French more interested in the 'hoppier' tasting beers.

I'll be honest, although I don't mind the odd glass of Guinness, I'm more of a fizz girl. And looking at some of our customers' photos, a glass or two of bubbles does seems to be a popular choice. With wine being the second favourite, and cocktails a close third. But if you know any different, and can show me some evidence, then I'm happy to be corrected.

Share with like-minded people

If you are going to take part in the celebrations, then we'd love to see your photos - especially if you're in the hot tub. There's even a social media hashtag - #InternationalBeerDay - to encourage people to share their photos and experiences. I'm not sure what we will get up to. Perhaps a couple of beers in the local Restaurant/Bar 147, then back home relaxing in the tub.

Whether you decide to celebrate International Beer Day or not, we hope you have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing some of your great photos of quality time spent with your loved ones. Bon week-end.
