Me and Tim are like chalk and cheese (well, they do say opposites attract!) I get worried and stressed when the slightest thing doesn’t go according to plan. Tim on the other hand just shrugs it off in typical ‘mañana’ style. So imagine what I’m like at the minute with my daughter’s wedding coming up, planning and preparing for the big day and being away from home. I am positively pining for a couple of hours slowly soaking away the stress in my own private home spa.
Practise what I preach
If you’d said to me a few months ago that I would miss my hot tub I would have said you were mad. But now I know that when I get home to France I am going to appreciate the gentle soothing bubbles more than ever. It has also made me realise that hot tub or not, we all need to make time to relax.
“Relaxation doesn't have to take up lots of your time. Just stepping away from something stressful for a few minutes, or taking time away from your normal routines and thoughts can give you enough space and distance to feel calmer.” - www.mind.org.uk
Whether you are stretched out in a tub or steaming away the stress in a sauna, both offer the perfect private place to relax. When your body slips into the water you can feel the stress gently slipping away. Your joints and muscles start to relax, overactive minds begin to slow down and you have overall feelings of comfort, happiness and relief. It’s like being wrapped in a soft warm blanket on a chilly evening, sipping a mug of cocoa. I’m imagining I’m there right now, instead of being at my desk, and my mind is already moving into de-stressed mode.
Heaven is having a happy place to relax
Whether you are retired, working full or part-time, have a hectic social life or multi-tasking - managing home, family and work! It is crucial that you build in time for relaxation as it can help avoid stress and anxiety taking over your mind and body. Many people struggle to switch off or take a break, but if you start with a few minutes each day then you are well on your way to creating a happy and healthy wellness routine.
“My husband can get very stressed but as soon as he sinks into the hot tub it melts away...it's such a wonderful experience just unwinding in the hot water outside, watching the clouds or stars...we love ours.” - Sophie Stokes.
How does a wood-fired hot tub reduce stress?
Wood-fired hot tubs and saunas help reduce stress from the moment the experience begins. Some even say that gathering the wood is the start of the relaxation journey because creating a fire helps focus the mind. I think that is when Tim feels most relaxed, whereas for me it’s the anticipation of spending time in the hot tub that creates a sense of well-being.
Here's the science bit. As you step into hot tub heaven your body becomes lighter due to the relatively higher density of water than air. But it’s after this first moment when the magic really happens. As the warm water reduces the strain on your heart, it opens your pores and provides a deep relaxation for your muscle tissues. Not only does the water have a soothing effect, but the scent of the burning wood and the sound of it crackling also creates a calming setting.
Similar effects can be attained in wood-fired saunas. However, regular sauna users often follow a different routine to maximise the benefits of sauna therapy - from steamy sauna to cold water plunge. Not only does this banish the stress, but it also fires up the adrenaline.
I’ll let you know how that feels when our demo sauna arrives and I have thoroughly ‘tested’ it.
Setting the mood
Creating a calming environment is easy using the inbuilt LED mood-lighting. Set them to relaxing blues and greens or simply follow the pattern of the soft lights and feel the stress melt away. Add a little low volume, relaxing music for an extraordinary, stress-busting, sensory experience.
Soothe away the tension in your mind and body using the hot tub's inbuilt air and water jets. Then when you are thoroughly massaged, switch them off, lean back and listen to the sounds of nature all around you.
Share the moment
More often than not, the hot tub or sauna is a private sanctuary where you can relax and unwind in peace and tranquillity. But it can also be a ‘happy place' if you invite your loved ones to share the experience. Bathing in a hot tub or sharing a sauna experience together means everyone can reap the health benefits. And if you have teenagers at home, introducing a familiar wellness routine into their lives will help them manage exam stress, social anxiety and other teen-related issues. It might even get them to open up more about things that are bothering them, which is definitely a good thing.
Sweet dreams
Getting into the habit of having a daily hot tub or sauna session can also help improve your sleep. This is because when the body temperature has been increased slightly and then slowly and steadily returned to its normal temperature, it can induce sleep. Thus encouraging a more natural sleep pattern and avoiding having to use medication to get a good night’s sleep.
Relaxed and stress-free delivery
For us, all customer feedback is good because it helps us ensure that we continue to provide great customer service. Some of the best feedback we receive though is when new customers tell us the whole process from ordering to installation was simple and stress-free.
“We had an electric one back in the UK and every time you heated it up you knew it was costing so much money making it a little difficult to totally relax. But now we have a wood fired hot tub - it's fabulous. It takes only a small amount of wood to heat the water and it stays hot for ages. Our gite guests love it and we can charge a little extra for this facility. It also encourages them to stay out of season, win-win situation! Great company, fabulous service, amazing aftercare.” ⭐️ - Sarah Hendy, La Longere Rose Gites
